The main objective of the project is to increase access to European mobility for young people with fewer opportunities through participation in the DiscoverEU activity, which is considered an educational, inclusive tool and strengthens their sense of belonging to the European community. From a youth work perspective, the goal is to enable young people who have not previously had the opportunity to travel within Europe to experience international mobility as a learning process, personal development, and the development of civic competences. Specific Objectives (1) The first specific objective is to overcome barriers that hinder young people with fewer opportunities from participating in the DiscoverEU program, particularly informational, organizational, economic, and psychological barriers. The project aims to comprehensively prepare participants for mobility, so that the DiscoverEU journey is accessible, safe, and feasible on an equal basis with their peers from more privileged backgrounds. Specific Objectives (2) The second specific objective is to strengthen young people's personal, social, and intercultural competences through learning experiences based on mobility experiences. The DiscoverEU trip will be designed as an educational process in which young people develop skills in cooperation, communication, independence, responsibility and reflection on European values and human rights. In our daily work with young people, we observe that young people with fewer opportunities are systematically underrepresented in European Union mobility activities. For many of them, Europe remains an abstract concept, not a truly experienced educational and social space. Without inclusive measures, DiscoverEU often remains accessible primarily to young people from larger cities and those with higher social capital. The project thus serves as an inclusive intervention, transforming the formal accessibility of DiscoverEU into a real opportunity for participation. Mobility becomes a tool for strengthening a sense of empowerment, European identity, and confidence in one's own competences. From a youth work perspective, this is crucial, as a first positive mobility experience often paves the way for young people to further participate in Erasmus+ programs and become active citizens. Young people will be actively involved throughout the entire project implementation process: from the preparatory phase, through the DiscoverEU trip itself, to the follow-up and dissemination activities. During the preparation phase, participants will participate in workshops and online meetings where they will learn about the DiscoverEU program, the principles of safe and sustainable travel, and collaboratively plan their mobility route and educational goals. During the DiscoverEU mobility, the trip will be treated as a space for experiential learning – young people will reflect on the places visited, encounters, and cultural diversity of Europe, keep travel journals, and document their experiences. After the mobility period, participants will engage in follow-up activities, sharing their experiences with peers and local communities, which will strengthen the inclusion and promotion of DiscoverEU among young people with fewer opportunities.
