Objectives

GKU – Youth Association, promoter of the Inclusion 4 Everyone project, is an organisation committed to creating non-formal learning opportunities for young people, fostering social inclusion, active participation and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. For this initiative, the association has established a partnership with organisations from Spain, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Romania and Slovakia, bringing together a consortium of six countries which, through cultural and social diversity, aim to explore the potential of sport as a tool for integration and well-being. The project will be developed in Santarém, from 3 to 10 September 2026, with 36 participants. Its genesis is based on the identification of two issues that are common across Europe: on the one hand, the lack of access to sport for young people with fewer opportunities, whether for economic, social or cultural reasons; on the other hand, the deterioration of mental health among young people, intensified by a sedentary lifestyle, isolation and the pressures of academic and social life. The project thus arose from the need to offer a safe and intercultural space where young people can experience sport as a tool for inclusion, dialogue and emotional balance. Inclusion 4 Everyone aims to create an environment of international cooperation in which sport is used not only as physical activity, but as a universal language that transcends barriers and brings different realities closer together. Over eight days, participants will engage in workshops, practical activities, study visits and moments of cultural sharing, culminating in the creation of a final tool – the Move & Mind Calendar, a digital calendar of challenges that combines physical movement and mental well-being practices. The choice of Santarém as the location for implementation is not random. It is a city with a strong sporting and cultural tradition, with dynamic youth associations and active sports clubs, but where there are also inequalities in access to sporting opportunities. The involvement of local partners, such as FAJUDIS and União Desportiva de Santarém, reinforces the territorial framework of the project and ensures a concrete link between the young participants and the host community. Thus, the local reality serves as a backdrop and inspiration for exploring solutions that can be replicated in different European contexts. In addition to the formal activities planned, the project values non-formal education methodology as a central pillar of the learning process. Through participatory dynamics, forum theatre, cooperative games, study visits and moments of individual reflection using the Learning Journal, young people will be constantly challenged to connect theory and practice, mind and body, individuality and cooperation. This balance between action and reflection ensures that the impact of the project extends into the personal, academic and associative lives of the participants. In terms of objectives, the project aims to: promote the social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities through sport; raise awareness of the importance of mental health in young people, using sport as a means of well-being and balance; stimulate intercultural cooperation and dialogue among young Europeans, strengthening values of respect, solidarity and tolerance; and develop personal and social skills such as teamwork, resilience and leadership, which are fundamental for active citizenship and future life. These objectives respond directly to the priorities of the Erasmus+ National Agency, particularly in the field of inclusion and diversity, by ensuring the participation of young people with fewer opportunities; in the field of health and well-being, by promoting active and balanced lifestyles; and in the field of youth participation, by encouraging young people to reflect critically on their communities and disseminate good practices through the final tool. In turn, the proposal is in line with the general objectives of the Erasmus+ programme by promoting social cohesion, active citizenship and intercultural dialogue through the enhancement of sport as an educational and social vector. The project is also part of the European Youth Strategy, which emphasises the importance of creating spaces for non-formal learning and encouraging young people to participate in building a more inclusive, healthy and supportive Europe. Inclusion 4 Everyone is therefore a concrete response to the needs identified, offering young people a space for practical learning, reflection and collective creation. Its relevance stems not only from the pertinence of the theme, but also from its ability to generate a real impact on the lives of participants and the communities they represent, reinforcing the mission of GKU and its partners to transform sport into a catalyst for inclusion and well-being across Europe.
