Objectives

EcoLogic is a project born from the collective ambition of the youth members of SYnergia Vila Real, in collaboration with a strategic consortium from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Hungary, Serbia, and Turkiye. As active agents in the rural context of Murça, our members identified a growing paradox and a challenge as urgent as physical pollution: the "infodemic" of digital climate disinformation. While young people are digital natives increasingly passionate about the climate crisis, they often lack the forensic tools to distinguish between evidence-based reality and sophisticated "Greenwashing" or profit-driven propaganda. This "literacy gap" is the catalyst for EcoLogic. We believe that to save the planet, we must first "clean" our digital ecosystem. This exchange serves as a transformative laboratory where the digital and ecological worlds converge to foster a more informed and resilient European youth. From the perspective of youth work practice, EcoLogic addresses these issues through three comprehensive and strategic objectives. Firstly, we aim to empower young participants with advanced digital fact-checking tools. By mastering professional techniques like lateral reading, reverse image searching, and metadata analysis, participants will move from passive consumers to "Truth Ambassadors" capable of exposing Greenwashing and defending scientific integrity in their home communities. They will acquire crucial skills to continue addressing this issue in their countries while engaging in personal growth through community coexistence. This is particularly relevant to the EU’s goal of enhancing digital literacy across all generations and supports the European Green Deal’s ambitious targets, which can only be met if the citizenry is resilient against climate denialism. Secondly, the project focuses on the co-creation of the GreenLens Progressive Web-App (PWA). This objective focuses on technological empowerment and "learning by doing." Participants will move beyond being passive users of technology to becoming its architects, bridging the gap between academic research—supported by the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD)—and the fast-paced language of social media. This is a project by young people for young people, leading the change towards a more informed population. By ensuring the integrity of the environmental narrative, we are providing the "informational fuel" necessary for a successful transition to carbon neutrality, specifically supporting strategic interventions like those outlined in Portugal's Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). Thirdly, the project seeks to foster personal and civic growth through non-formal education. By living in a multicultural community, participants will develop the soft skills and emotional intelligence needed to manage digital conflict, deconstruct "echo chambers," and promote a more cohesive European population. Our consortium was meticulously assembled to enrich this process. Q-hub (Ukraine) provides invaluable expertise in social resilience and information warfare; ArTeam Association (Bulgaria) provides a specialised psychological perspective on digital well-being and cognitive resilience; and our other partners add vital sociological layers. This synergy ensures that less experienced associations gain access to proven Non-Formal Education (NFE) methodologies, while veteran organisations find a space to innovate, strengthening the institutional fabric of the entire consortium. EcoLogic fundamentally aligns with the Erasmus+ Programme horizontal priorities. By placing Digital Transformation at its core, it proves that high-level media literacy can and should flourish outside major urban centres, using the rural world of Murça as a strategic asset for territorial cohesion. This supports the Inclusion and Diversitypriority by engaging rural youth and those from conflict-affected areas, ensuring they are at the forefront of the European digital agenda. Through the "Logic Duel" and other NFE techniques, EcoLogic fosters the intercultural understanding and critical thinking that are the hallmarks of European Youth Exchanges. Ultimately, the project reinforces the role of Erasmus+ as an essential instrument for building an informed and proactive society, capable of defending both its digital sovereignty and its ecological future, ensuring that the influence of this exchange reaches far beyond the immediate participants to the wider European youth population.
