Objectives

We are a group of 32 young people from Portugal, Latvia, Turkey and Poland who want to look at sport in a different way. In the “Play Fair” project, we use sport as a tool for inclusion, respect and well-being, and not as a space of pressure, exclusion or bullying. The project was born from our own experiences in schools, sport clubs and youth spaces, where we often see young people being excluded or undervalued. We want to show that sport can be a safe space where everyone has a place and a voice. The objectives of the project are simple, realistic and suitable for a Youth Exchange: 1. Fighting bullying through inclusive sport * Learning to recognise bullying situations in sport contexts * Developing positive and practical responses as mediators and “upstanders” * Adapting game rules to promote cooperation instead of aggressive competition 2. Promoting the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities * Ensuring the active participation of 16 young people facing social, economic or geographical barriers * Creating activities where everyone can participate, regardless of their abilities * Strengthening the feeling of belonging to the group and the community 3. Developing personal and social competences * Improving communication, teamwork and leadership * Using English in a practical way in real situations * Gaining confidence through learning by doing 4. Creating a useful digital result * Producing an Online Guide of Inclusive Exercises on YouTube * Creating at least 15 simple and practical videos * Making the material available to other young people and youth workers 5. Strengthening intercultural dialogue * Getting to know better the realities of Portugal, Latvia, Turkey and Poland * Breaking stereotypes through daily living together and teamwork * Experiencing values such as respect, solidarity and cooperation The project is based on non-formal education. Young people are the protagonists of the activities, and group leaders act as mentors. The UAU Hostel and the public spaces of Figueira da Foz become safe spaces to learn, experiment and grow. In summary, “Play Fair” aims to show that sport can unite instead of divide. Participants return home with practical tools to make their schools, sport clubs and youth groups more inclusive, taking the spirit of Fair Play to their local communities.
