Recently, one member of the organization participated in an Erasmus project about the environment. Sharing the positive outcomes of the project with the rest of the organization members has inspired the conception of the idea for “Ignite the Change”. From the initial promising project design on paper to the competent execution, we realized that with a well-structured activity plan and clear objectives, it is possible to effect meaningful change and enhance the potential of a youth group and community. The underlying concept of this project is directly connected to the urgent issue of forest fires and their impact on communities and the environment. We see youth exchanges as an opportunity to address the need for enabling young individuals to acquire critical thinking techniques and methods, empowering them to enhance their ability to express their opinions effectively and respectfully to make them able to try to change less positive points relative to forest fires and climate changes. Critical thinking, in essence, encompasses a wide range of individual skills involving the capacity to critically assess our own beliefs and evaluate various subjects impartially, irrespective of our emotional biases. In the first phase of the project, we will introduce the problem through formal and non-formal education approaches. Subsequently, in the project's second phase, participants will collaboratively implement activities in green areas such as tree planting between others. Recognizing the role of trees in sequestering carbon dioxide and promoting overall environmental health, our project will include activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of afforestation. The final stage will offer them the opportunity to develop communication skills and public speaking techniques since they will share the project with the local community. We aim to execute a project centred on critical thinking, communication skill and environmental awareness, recognizing their pivotal role in personal growth and consequently, national development leadership. Consequently, the objectives of our project encompass: • Cultivating critical thinking through debates; • Fostering the practice of objective analysis; • Providing exposure to effective communication techniques; • Broaden perspectives on global wildfire impacts, fostering empathy and collaboration; • Emphasizing conservation and sustainable practices; • Offering opportunities for interaction and practice with individuals from diverse cultures; • Sharing experiences and best practices in prevention; • Strengthening competencies and skills related to communication, public speaking, and comprehension.
