Young people today encounter Artificial Intelligence in their everyday lives through social media, digital platforms, and automated tools, yet many still lack the knowledge and critical skills needed to understand how these technologies function and how they should be used responsibly. This gap between frequent use and limited understanding can lead to uncertainty, exclusion, and reduced participation in the digital transformation of society. The project “Let’s Talk AI: Youth in Tech” was created together with young people who expressed a strong need to better understand Artificial Intelligence and to feel included in shaping the digital future. From a youth work perspective, the project aims to strengthen young people’s competences and active participation through non-formal learning and international cooperation. The main objectives are to: introduce Artificial Intelligence in an accessible, simple, and engaging way; develop practical digital competences for creative, educational, and problem-solving use of AI tools; promote critical thinking regarding misinformation, deepfakes, data privacy, and ethical use of technology; ensure meaningful inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities and equal access to digital learning; foster intercultural dialogue, cooperation, and European values through international youth exchange; empower participants to act as responsible digital citizens and peer educators in their local communities. Through workshops, collaborative learning, and creative co-creation processes, participants will gain confidence to use technology safely, critically, and creatively, while building intercultural connections and contributing to a more inclusive and human-centred digital Europe.
