Objectives

By implementing the project “Green Trails – Youth for Sustainable Action”, we aim to strengthen the role of youth work as a structured tool for empowerment, inclusion and democratic participation, using international mobility as a transformative pedagogical instrument. From the perspective of youth work practice, the project seeks to achieve five main objectives: 1. To enhance the quality of non-formal learning applied to sustainability. The project aims to demonstrate how non-formal education methodologies — such as experiential learning, intercultural teamwork, structured reflection and project-based learning — can effectively develop green competences in a practical and transferable way. The objective is to empower young people to understand environmental challenges and translate knowledge into concrete action. 2. To promote meaningful youth participation in democratic life. The project seeks to create safe and structured spaces where young people can exercise shared leadership, engage in decision-making processes and develop dialogue skills. Through co-facilitation of activities and the development of Local Action Plans, participants move beyond being beneficiaries and become active agents in the process. 3. To integrate sustainable inclusive practices into youth work. With at least 25 out of 30 participants identified as young people with fewer opportunities (facing economic, geographical or moderate social barriers), the project aims to strengthen organisations’ capacity to implement structured inclusive approaches, ensuring equal access, tailored support and active participation. 4. To develop key competences aligned with the European framework. The project will contribute to the development of citizenship competence, personal and social competence, entrepreneurship competence and cultural awareness, fostering young people as active, critical and supportive European citizens. 5. To strengthen transnational cooperation in the field of youth work. Through collaboration between organisations from five countries with diverse realities — including rural contexts, peripheral regions and areas affected by geopolitical instability — the project aims to promote exchange of good practices and consolidate a sustainable European youth cooperation network. In practical terms, the project seeks to generate a concrete shift in how young people perceive their role in society: from passive observers to active protagonists in the green transition and democratic participation. The project is fully aligned with the Erasmus Youth Quality Standards, promoting participant-centred learning, structured inclusion, safety, pedagogical guidance and formal recognition of learning outcomes through Youthpass. In summary, from a youth work perspective, the project aims to consolidate international mobility as a strategic tool for personal development, social inclusion and community transformation, strengthening young people’s capacity to act responsibly, sustainably and democratically within their communities.
