Through the implementation of HUMAN-AI, we aim to strengthen the professional capacity of youth workers to address artificial intelligence as a social, ethical and human-rights-related issue within non-formal youth work. The project responds to the growing influence of AI-driven systems on young people’s access to information, participation, well-being and opportunities, and to the limited availability of youth-work-oriented methodologies to address these changes. From a youth work practice perspective, the objectives of the project are to: +equip youth workers with a clear, accessible understanding of AI and its impact on young people’s lives, without requiring technical expertise; +strengthen youth workers’ ability to facilitate discussions on ethics, human rights, inclusion, democracy and participation in AI-influenced environments; +develop practical non-formal learning methods that can be directly applied in youth centres, community projects, international activities and local workshops; +increase youth workers’ confidence in addressing sensitive topics such as algorithmic bias, misinformation, data protection and digital pressure; +support inclusive youth work by adapting AI literacy approaches for young people with fewer opportunities; +promote responsible, critical and participatory engagement with digital technologies among young people through quality youth work. Overall, the project aims to improve the quality, relevance and societal role of youth work in a rapidly digitalising context.
