Objectives

According to the European Commission report on Youth and Civic Participation (2022), many youth organizations face structural challenges that limit their capacity to act sustainably, directly affecting the quality of work with young people and social inclusion. These challenges include financial instability, difficulties in retaining volunteers, and gaps in medium- and long-term strategic planning, highlighting the urgent need for capacity-building to strengthen organizational sustainability. In the context of youth work, it is essential that youth workers acquire practical, methodological, and strategic skills that enable them to reinforce their organizations and maximize the impact of their activities within their communities. The Training Course “Staying Alive – Sustainability in Associative Work” has the following main objectives: -To equip youth workers with practical tools in strategic planning, financial management, and participatory leadership, strengthening the resilience and sustainability of their associations. -To promote critical reflection and organizational analysis, enabling participants to identify strengths, weaknesses, and risks in their structures, in line with EU youth organization management practices (European Youth Forum, 2021). -To foster the development of human and social competencies, including team motivation, burnout prevention, and volunteer retention, which are essential for long-term sustainability in youth work. -To encourage the exchange of good practices and intercultural learning, creating a European network of youth workers capable of implementing strategic changes in their organizations. -To provide practical experience in developing Sustainability Action Plans, integrating strategic objectives, impact indicators, and methodologies adaptable to different associative contexts. -To raise awareness of European opportunities and Erasmus+, reinforcing the importance of international collaboration and the application of innovative approaches in the youth sector. Through this Training Course, youth workers are expected to acquire strategic and methodological competencies that can be immediately applied in their organizations, promoting not only organizational sustainability but also positive social impact within their communities and among young people.
