We want this project to open the doors of Europe to youth poor communities of Ave Region. Bearing in mind this social context, we cannot fail to consider it necessary to open the doors of Europe to these young people. Discovery EU opportunities are well known, as it is a much talked about topic in the school community, but the young people who participate are always young people from families with economic capacity. We know that it is not for lack of will that these young people do not participate, but because it is difficult to make our local communities understand what Discover EU is, and that young people will have an opportunity to go out alone and get to know the European territory. From our long experience with Youth projects, we know that it is easier to help families understand european reality and opportunities such as Discovery EU if we fit this mobility opportunity into a coherent project, with reference figures, and reliable sources of information. The objectives for this project are to make Discovery EU known and demystified for the minority, immigrant and rural communities of Vila Nova de Famalicão and Ave Region, while we do inclusion work with young people and families. We also aim to create an European network of migrant communities that can collaborate as Discovery EU support institutions, while implementing and evaluating a learning plan created and designed for each of the participants of this project. The theme of this project will be “Europe: Intercultural and Today”.
