Overall, within this project, we wish to create positive changes for the environment, communities, and the economy. We wish to carry out this activity as according to the last statistics, estimate that around a third of all food goes to waste globally each year, over one billion tons, which amounts to nearly $940 billion in economic losses annually. According to Pinto, R. Boavida-Dias, H.A. Matos, J. Azevedo- Analysis of the food loss and waste valorization of animal byproducts from the retail sector, food waste and loss (FWL) has always been an unavoidable challenge in the food supply chain (FSC) field, negatively impacting the environment, economy, and society .From an environmental point of view, there is a great deal of land, water, and energy involved in the production of food. FWL not only results in the loss of these resources but also increases environmental pressure. Moreover, the production and processing of food releases many tons of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane. Large FWL events are not only the opposite of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but also contribute to global warming or climate change. Moreover, according to a statistical report from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a third of food produced worldwide is wasted, amounting to over one billion tons - enough to feed 940 million people. We all should learn how upcycling food waste helps reduce landfill emissions, promotes circular economies, and creates new food products. Within the activity we will not concentrate only of food waste as the topic should be discussed also from other perspectives such as digital waste, which it tackles both physical e-waste (electronic devices) and the energy/data footprint of digital activities, promoting better data visibility for sustainability. The reality is we need to explore how to fully adopt digital technology and implement corresponding governance mechanisms in the whole FSC to promote effective collaboration, enhance information exchange, reduce FWL, and ultimately promote environmental, social, and economic goals so, within this activity: First of all, we wish to raise awareness: to help direct and indirect beneficiaries understand how much food and digital resources are wasted and why that matters. First we will raise awareness within participants/ youth workers and they will replicate in their communities and raise awareness within their communities after they return from mobility. Second, the project has the base- sustainability: by reducing waste, the project promotes sustainable practices that can benefit the environment, small steps taken by each of us will lead to big change and in theory will benefit everyone, not only the participants an their communities, but all. Third, the project brings better resources management: It encourages better use of resources, leading to savings and efficiency for Ngos and households. Forth, the project brings community engagement: the project aim to bring communities and NGOs from Europe/ European Union and outside Europe/ European Union together, creating an context for sharing ideas and solutions. Fifth, the project aim to lead to policy change: it can influence policies that help reduce waste at a larger scale, leading to better regulations and practices. The objectives of this project are: · Raise awareness among 30 youth workers above 18 years old from the consortium about the impact of food and digital waste on climate change and natural resources and have changing of 30 behaviors during 10 months project. · Strengthen intercultural dialogue through food traditions and sustainable cooking for minimum 30 youth workers during the 10-month project. · Promote creative reuse of food (upcycling recipes, composting, redistribution) among 30 participants of the 10 partner organizations, during 5 days mobility in Romania. · Promote creative reuse of devices ( upcycling or repurposing them) among 30 participants from the consortium during 5 days mobility in Romania. · Empower 30 participants to lead community projects on food and digital waste reduction, reaching at least 300 indirect beneficiaries. · Develop green behaviors among 30 youth workers so that they can inspire, develop and integrate at least one new sustainability activity within each community Last but not least, within this project we also promote ERASMUS+, EU values and international cooperation within 10 NGOs and 10 countries, within 10 months project time.
