Active Bridges is designed as a capacity-building process for youth workers, not as a one-off training. From a youth work practice perspective, the project aims to professionalise the use of sport as a non-formal education methodology for inclusion, empowerment, and social cohesion. The project addresses concrete gaps identified by partner organisations during the planning co-design phase: youth workers frequently use sport informally, but lack structured pedagogical tools, confidence in adapting activities to diverse groups, and mechanisms to translate training into local youth work actions. Over 12 months, Active Bridges combines experiential learning, reflection, mentoring, and follow-up to ensure that competences acquired during the mobility are embedded in daily youth work practice and generate tangible impact in local communities. Specific Objectives SO1 – Improve the professional capacities of 29 youth workers Countries: RO, IT, ES, GR, LT, BG, TR Timeframe: 12 months Target: At least 80% of participants acquire concrete methodologies to integrate sport into non-formal education pathways, validated through Youthpass. This objective focuses on strengthening youth workers’ ability to design, facilitate, and reflect on sport-based learning processes, moving from recreational use to intentional educational practice. This will be achieved through: Methodology Labs (e.g. Relay of Values, Cooperative Volleyball) → developing competences in game adaptation, cooperative learning, and educational design. Conflict & Inclusion Workshops (e.g. Conflict Strategies in Sport, Blindfolded Volleyball) → strengthening conflict management, empathy, and inclusive facilitation skills. Outdoor Learning Activities (Rafting & Climbing) → building risk management, resilience, teamwork, and leadership under pressure. Reflection & Validation Tools (Youthpass sessions, structured debriefing models) → enhancing learning-to-learn competences and the ability to recognise and articulate learning outcomes in youth work contexts. SO2 – Ensure the full participation and empowerment of 7 youth workers with fewer opportunities Timeframe: 12 months Focus: Resilience, confidence, social and interpersonal skills through inclusive sport-based youth work. From a youth work perspective, this objective ensures that inclusion is not only a target group requirement, but a learning driver shaping the methodology. This will be achieved through: Inclusive Group Dynamics (e.g. Fears–Motivations–Expectations, Reflection Groups) → fostering confidence, sense of belonging, self-expression, and peer support. Adaptive Sport Sessions (e.g. Inclusive Handball “Double Score”, Barrier Volleyball) → developing empathy, equal participation, and intercultural awareness. Outdoor Empowerment Challenges (Rafting & Climbing) → strengthening self-confidence, perseverance, leadership rotation, and trust. Targeted Support Measures (mentoring, intercultural preparation, accessible facilitation) → ensuring safe participation, reduced barriers, and continuity before, during, and after the mobility. SO3 – Strengthen the cooperative and methodological capacity of the 7 partner organisations Countries: RO, IT, ES, GR, LT, BG, TR Timeframe: 12 months Focus: Using sport as a structured tool for inclusion within organisational youth work practice. This objective addresses youth work quality at organisational level, ensuring sustainability beyond individual learning. This will be achieved through: Joint training of youth workers, led by LOOPS and Adriana (experienced trainer) → transferring tested methodologies on sport for inclusion, resilience, and group dynamics to partner organisations’ staff. Exchange of practices (Case Study Exchange, Designing Local Actions, Gallery Walk) → supporting collective innovation and adaptation of methods to different local contexts. Stakeholder Mapping & Dissemination → embedding results into local youth ecosystems (schools, NGOs, municipalities) and strengthening partners’ visibility and cooperation capacity. .:
