Digital skills and competencesInclusion of marginalised young peopleDemocracy and inclusive democratic participation

Objectives

We decided to run this project because young people live in a digital world where social media and AI shape what they see, believe, and share every day. Disinformation today is more complex than just “fake news” — AI can create very realistic but misleading content, and many young people don’t yet have the practical skills to recognise it. This affects trust, participation in public life, and even mental well-being. Through our work with youth, we saw three main needs: stronger media and AI literacy, rebuilding trust and confidence in online discussions, and protecting digital well-being and self-esteem. Many young people feel pressure from idealised online content or become unsure about what is real or fake, which can lead to anxiety or disengagement. With this project, we want to give young people simple, practical tools and create healthier digital habits so they can feel more confident and responsible in the online world. AIM: to equip participants with practical media and AI literacy skills, rebuild trust in reliable information and democratic participation, and support digital well-being. The project empowers participants to navigate the digital world critically, responsibly, and with confidence. OBJECTIVES: -To increase and strengthen participants ability to recognise AI-generated content, measured through pre/post self-assessment and reflection tools. -To increase participants’ understanding of disinformation and algorithms so that all participants can explain how engagement-driven platforms influence information, emotions, and behaviour. -To strengthen participants’ confidence in democratic participation by ensuring at least 80% of participants feel more capable of engaging responsibly in online public discussions. -To improve participants’ digital well-being and self-esteem by supporting at least 75% of participants to identify personal strategies for healthier online behaviour. -To promote intercultural understanding and networking by bringing together young people from 6 countries and using creative, participatory methods to challenge stereotypes and strengthen cultural dialogue -To ensure inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities by providing adapted methods and support so that participants from all partner countries can participate equally and benefit fully from the exchange. - To ensure local impact and sustainability by supporting each national group to organise at least one follow-up activity in their local community within three months after the exchange.
