With this project, I want to provide a qualitative, inclusive mobility experience – for youth with the least opportunities – that allows them to really travel through Europe, gain experience, and develop their personal and social competencies. In the frame of youth work, the project aims to increase their autonomy, self-confidence, and resilience through active participation and experiential learning in the planning and co-creation of travel activities. Tackling the barriers that prevent young people with fewer opportunities from taking part, whether financial, social, cultural, or related to migration, the project will enable them to participate on equal terms with their peers. Along the way, through non-formal and informal learning, the young people will acquire key competences such as intercultural awareness, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and digital competences. Concurrently, the project promotes critical thinking on European values, civic participation, and social responsibility, consolidates participants’ sense of belonging to the European Union, and encourages them to participate as active and accountable citizens. Sustainability is also part of the agenda. They will be encouraged to adopt an environmentally friendly approach at all stages of their mobility and responsible travel; they will also be sensitised to the environmental implications of their daily choices. Beyond personal learning, the project aims to foster a community and peer effect in which participants can transfer experiences, knowledge, and skills gained to local communities, peers, and stakeholders to support their communities and inspire others to be change-makers and socially inclusive. Ultimately, the project fosters the development of youth work practice by testing innovative responses in support of young people with fewer opportunities. Through the involvement of subjects in the decision-making process, the documentation of learning products, and the dissemination of results, we intend to enhance organisational capacity and share best practices that can be transferred to other youth organisations. In conclusion, the project provides a transformative mobility opportunity that strengthens young people, encourages inclusion and intercultural dialogue, nurtures them to become sustainable and active citizens, and contributes to increasing the quality and relevance of youth work in line with the priorities of Erasmus+ and the DiscoverEU Inclusion Action.
