Objectives

The project aims to provide young people—especially those with fewer opportunities from rural and socially disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as young people facing various psychosocial and cognitive barriers—with a high-quality youth exchange experience that strengthens personal development, social inclusion, and active participation. It builds on identified gaps in rural contexts: limited access to spaces for emotional growth, self-expression, and safe engagement with differences, alongside a growing resistance to change and fear of diversity. The project responds by intentionally creating a safe and brave space, where young people practise vulnerability, respectful communication, boundary-setting, non-violent conflict resolution, and accepting imperfection as a natural part of learning. The key objectives of the project are to: Create a safe and brave learning space where young people learn to be heard, to listen to others, and to take responsibility for group dynamics (shared agreements, a culture of respect, and zero tolerance for discrimination). Develop social and emotional competences (self-regulation, empathy, cooperation, and clear expression of needs) through non-formal, experiential learning. Use work with horses as an innovative youth work method (Equine-Assisted Learning): horses, as a non-judgemental “emotional mirror,” provide immediate feedback on body language and inner states, and support the inclusion of young people who find it harder to learn in traditional, verbally oriented settings. Strengthen intercultural dialogue and reduce fear of diversity, especially in environments where encounters with foreigners are rare and stereotypes are common. Promote active youth participation through a planned, gradual transfer of responsibility: young people are not only participants, but co-creators of the programme and community practice. Strengthen the capacity of partner organisations to deliver future mobilities in a high-quality, safe, and inclusive way, and contribute to wider use of innovative, nature-based (outdoor) inclusive approaches in youth work.
