Objectives

Through the project, we will address key challenges of youth work in the field of volunteering, which in practice is unfortunately often carried out without clear and defined structures, support mechanisms and sufficient participation of young people. Volunteers are too often perceived primarily as task performers, which leads to low motivation, high turnover, burnout among coordinators and youth workers and consequently a reduced educational and social impact of volunteering. The main purpose of the project is to strengthen the competences of youth workers and volunteer coordinators so that they can plan, manage and evaluate volunteering in their organisations in a more high-quality, sustainable and inclusive way. The project is directly rooted in youth work practice and responds to the real needs of organisations and young people, especially young people with fewer opportunities. The project objectives focus on: - improving knowledge and competences for structured and sustainable volunteer management, including recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, support and long-term engagement; - strengthening approaches that treat volunteers as active partners and co-creators, involved in decision-making, planning and evaluation processes; - developing and testing inclusive volunteering models for young people with fewer opportunities that address barriers and ensure appropriate support; - promoting active citizenship and youth participation, where volunteering functions as a space for non-formal learning, personal growth and social engagement; - ensuring the transfer of acquired knowledge into local environments in such a way that new knowledge, methods and tools become part of the regular practice of youth organisations. Key elements of the project will be two international study visits for youth workers and volunteer coordinators, based on non-formal learning methods, the exchange of good practices and work on concrete cases from practice. Particular emphasis will be placed on learning reflection, the development of practical tools and the preparation of personal and organisational action plans. From the perspective of youth work practice, the project contributes to greater professionalisation of volunteer management, strengthening the quality of youth programmes and creating more inclusive and sustainable environments for young people. With the project, we do not aim to introduce additional burdens for youth workers, but rather to improve existing practices and, in the long term, contribute to the development of high-quality youth work.
