With the implementation of the Calm in Chaos project, we aim to equip youth workers with practical tools, methods, and knowledge for effectively responding to stressful and crisis situations, which are becoming increasingly present in youth work. The project addresses the growing need for psychosocial support in this field, where youth workers often lack sufficient competences to deal with mental distress, conflicts, and uncertainty. The main goal of the project is to improve the quality of youth work by strengthening youth workers’ competences in: - understanding the phases and forms of psychosocial support, - using body language and micro-messages in crisis situations, - providing structured first response in distress (from initial contact to referrals), - applying methods of mindfulness, reflection, and personal stability, - creating safe and supportive spaces for young people even in times of chaos. The project will be carried out as an international training course, bringing together youth workers from Slovenia, Belgium, Romania, Italy, Poland, and Hungary. Through non-formal education, simulations, and practical workshops, participants will develop new knowledge, immediately test it in practice, and learn how to transfer it to their local environments. Special emphasis will be placed on reflection and documenting learning outcomes (Youthpass), dissemination through local workshops, infographics, and digital content, as well as on establishing lasting connections between organizations. In this way, the project’s results will not be limited to the direct participants but will continue to benefit the wider youth work community and strengthen the resilience of the youth sector as a whole.
