Objectives

The project responds to the fact that violence is a pan-European problem that manifests itself in various forms across EU countries. Many young people do not know how to effectively defend themselves against it or respond and communicate in a non-conflict manner to prevent the escalation of violence. The project “3 R Recognise, Resist, Respond” is aimed at comprehensively strengthening the personal safety of young people and increasing their competences in self-defense, teaching about the prevention of physical and sexual violence through non-formal education, with special emphasis on the use of storytelling to share experiences with verbal, emotional, physical and sexual violence. The aim of the project is to develop the compet. of young people to recognize risky situations and forms of violence, to understand their specific mechanisms and critically reflect on myths and stereotypes about violence, and to eliminate the normalization of manifestations of violence in the EU. The project aims to develop self-defense competencies of at-risk and rural youth through a unified methodology based on four steps – think, act, communicate and fight. Participants from different partner countries will master self-defense techniques and Krav Maga elements that are applicable across cultural and social environments. The European dimension of this objective lies in creating a common framework of personal safety that promotes equality in access to health care, reduces regional inequalities and strengthens the competencies of young people regardless of experience, origin, race. Another aim of the project is to equip young people with practical tools for violence prevention and basic verbal and physical self-defense techniques that will allow them to react appropriately and safely in the event of an immediate threat. Participants will be educated to be able to assess the risk, choose an adequate response and minimize the possibility of escalation of conflict and violence, thereby reducing the spread of violence among young people in the EU. The project also focuses on developing the ability to respond in crisis situations and on preventing the recurrence of violence, by strengthening awareness of available forms of help, support networks and responsible strategies after experiencing a threatening situation. In the international youth exchange environment, the project promotes mutual learning, solidarity and sharing of experiences, thereby contributing to the long-term strengthening of well-being, self-confidence and an active attitude of young people towards the prevention of violence in their communities. By involving participants in partner countries in Europe, the project reflects on the common challenges that young people face - especially in the areas of personal safety, violence prevention and the protection of human rights. Through international cooperation, the project creates a space for sharing experiences, approaches and good practice in the areas of self-defense, non-violent communication and the prevention of physical and sexual violence in the European context.
