The main goal of Digital Waves is to strengthen young people’s practical digital competences, online safety awareness, and critical media literacy through non-formal learning and intercultural cooperation. From a youth work perspective, the project aims to empower 24 young people (aged 18–25) and 3 group leaders with no upper limit from Romania, Slovakia, and Georgia, including at least 3 participants with fewer opportunities per country, to become confident, responsible, and critical digital citizens. The project responds to the identified gap between everyday digital use and the ability to apply digital tools safely and effectively for education, employment, and civic participation. The specific objectives are: O1: To develop participants’ practical digital skills (privacy protection, phishing recognition, source verification, safe online communication) through hands-on workshops, simulations, and peer-led activities during the 10-day Youth Exchange. O2: To strengthen critical thinking, teamwork, and intercultural cooperation by engaging participants in collaborative digital projects, debates, and reflection sessions using non-formal education methods. O3: To prepare participants to act as digital peer educators by equipping them with ready-to-use micro-session plans and toolkits, enabling them to organise at least one local follow-up activity within six months after the mobility. In youth work practice terms, the project promotes active participation, peer learning, experiential education, and structured reflection (Youthpass), ensuring that learning is practical, measurable, and transferable to participants’ local communities. The exchange supports inclusion, builds self-confidence, and strengthens young people’s capacity to navigate digital environments safely, critically, and responsibly in line with Erasmus+ objectives.
