The BEE-MIND project is a 10-day youth exchange for 24 participants from Slovakia, Poland, Georgia and Azerbaijan, which responds to the deteriorating mental well-being of young people due to the confluence of multiple crises (war, climate change, social insecurity). The aim of the project is to support young people in developing resilience, emotional literacy and intercultural competences, while strengthening their sense of personal responsibility and active citizenship through concrete environmental action at the local level. From the perspective of youth work practice, we want to ensure that young people acquire practical tools for managing stress, anxiety and eco-anxiety and that they are able to consciously work with their emotions in a challenging social environment. The project aims to develop their ability to self-reflect, self-regulation and burnout prevention through non-formal education, experiential methods and daily reflection. Another aim is to strengthen the social and intercultural competences of the participants. Through teamwork in international groups, facilitated discussions and joint environmental activities, participants will improve their communication skills, ability to cooperate in diverse environments and resolve conflicts constructively. The project also connects mental health with environmental responsibility. Participants will participate in the creation of a “Biodiversity Classroom” in the village of Čaňa (insect hotels and a flower meadow), thereby experiencing a concrete example of how they can contribute to positive change in their community through active action. This will strengthen their sense of self-efficacy and civic engagement. The objectives also include the multiplier effect of the project. Upon returning home, participants will be motivated to implement local follow-up activities focused on wellbeing, resilience or environmental topics, thus transferring the impact of the project to their communities and organizations. From a youth work perspective, the BEE-MIND project contributes to strengthening young people as resilient, self-confident and active members of society who are able to respond to the challenges of today constructively and responsibly.
