Objectives

The primary aim of the Earth Keepers project is to empower 29 youth workers to become environmental stewards by transforming how they engage with young people around sustainability topics. To achieve this, the project has set specific objectives to equip these practitioners with emotional resilience tools and nature-based methods, such as The Work That Reconnects, to effectively manage climate anxiety and maintain professional stability. It also seeks to develop advanced facilitation competencies using the Bridgedale 360 toolkit, enabling participants to lead complex group processes and non-hierarchical decision-making sessions through Sociocracy. Furthermore, the project intends to bridge the gap between theoretical environmental awareness and meaningful local action by empowering partner groups to implement local multiplier events, while simultaneously strengthening the youth work infrastructure by building a resilient transnational community of practitioners. From the perspective of youth work practice, the initiative strives to professionalize leadership by shifting the field from event coordination toward transformative stewardship, moving away from traditional power-over models to power-with facilitation that fosters genuine youth agency.
