The project addresses challenges for innovation faced by relevant actors of the disability service provision sector. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD), the guiding line of the EU’s Disability Strategy 2010-2020, embodies a ‘paradigm shift’, from the charitable and the medical approaches to disability to one which is firmly rooted in human rights (‘inclusion paradigm’). Uncertainty on implementation strategies is raising high in local governments and even more in disability service providers. The project will develop a cross-border and multidisciplinary teaching and training concept for staff qualification of service providers and local governments together with academic training of university students. The alliance will facilitate exchange, flow and co-creation of knowledge between higher education institutions and service providers on how to fully embrace the inclusion paradigm. This will contribute to foster the innovation capacity of higher education institutions, local governments and service providers for persons with disabilities and aligned organisations from the care provision sector. Main CISCOS output will be a Comprehensive Study Course on social planning, community development and integrated service provision, adapted to both academic and non-academic settings, tailored to the needs of the service provision sector and produced in eight languages (EN, DE, PL, ES, SV, EL, HU and SL). All results will be made available to the general public in an online Knowledge Centre (which will also contain a MOOC in English) and for information of project results a Knowledge Exchange Network will be established. The joint learning model that is planned in CISCOS will create new experiences and insights for participating organisations on how to combine academic training and practical implementation of of inclusion and participation of people with disabilities in a process for better integration of local service systems.
The aim of CISCOS was to develop an innovative and multidisciplinary approach to teaching and training to support service providing organizations and local policy practitioners to adapt to changed environments and perform in more integrated and effective ways. A set of transversal skills based on a joint learning model with a system-thinking orientation is the guiding line of the project activities and contributes to the innovation on teaching and training in social work and rehabilitation.
The aim of the CISCOS project was to develop a multinational and cross-sectoral training course for staff in disability service organizations, in local governments and for students in academic qualification. The final CISCOS curriculum consists of three curriculum elements adapted to both academic and non-academic settings. These cover a) social planning (1), b) community development (2), and c) integrated service provision (3). The "CISCOS Training Package" is available in eight languages.
<< Background >> The aim of the CISCOS project was to develop a multinational and cross-sectoral training course for staff in disability service organizations, in local governments and for students in academic qualification. The final CISCOS curriculum consists of three curriculum elements adapted to both academic and non-academic settings. These cover a) social planning (1), b) community development (2), and c) integrated service provision (3). A set of transversal skills based on a joint learning model with a system-thinking orientation is the guiding line of the project activities and contributes to the innovation on teaching and training in social work and rehabilitation. << Implementation >> The three aforementioned curriculum elements were developed by the partners and then tested in 24 national testing seminars (on-site and online). Those were presented to mixed learning group of students, practioneers from service providers and local administration as well as from self-advocacy groups. Experiences from the testing seminars were discussed among project partners to improve the teaching material and the curriculum elements. This resulted in the final CISCOS Training Package. << Results >> Formally CISCOS resulted in a "Training Package" that consists of five parts. These are a) an introduction, b) a guide for trainers, c) a course manual and d) workbook, e) a toolkit for collaborative planning processes. The training package is available in a universal English version. In addition, partners developed national versions in German, Greek, Hungarian, Polish, Spanish, Slovenian and Swedish language. Furthermore, the project helped to establish contacts between seminar participants.
