The project Mechatronics and Metallurgical VET for sectors' industries (MeMeVET) aims to offer solutions to some of the main issues that impede the free mobility in Europe of students and workers in the mechatronics and metallurgical sectors. The objectives are: -to create a sector-skill-alliance between VET providers and relevant organisations representing enterprises in the five partecipating European countries; -to deliver a common VET Curriculum for complementary educational skills requested by the labor market in the five participating countries, acquired through optional training modules created to obtain soft and transversal skills; -to develop an e-card, which will support the VET Curriculum. The main results of the project MeMeVET are: • Delivery of the report: “Identification of skills and need in mechatronics and metallurgic industries”. • Development of training modules for students of VET schools and universities in mechatronics and metallurgy. • Delivery a transnational sector-wide vocational Curriculum with modular structure. • Development of the e-card to upload the skills acquired through formal and non-formal education experiences, fostering young people integration into EU labour market. • Delivery a report: "How to facilitate mobility and fast track integration into EU labour market in mechatronic and metallurgy sectors". • Organise mobility: Placement and Job Shadowing; Networking for students and academic staff. The implementation of the project is halfway through the project duration . In the first months of the project, the partners have carried out the work to achieve the preliminary project’s objectives: the participation at the first kick-off meeting held in Sofia, the signing of the Consortium Agreement, the creation of the project logo and brochure with information about the project in six languages (English, German, Spanish, Bulgarian, Slovakian, Italia), the creation of the project website and FaceBook, the use of social media channels for the project dissemination, the contact with the stakeholders. Furthermore, in the first six months of the project the VET partners have extensively worked to acknowledge the status quo of VET Curricula in the five countries, necessary to better understand the problems of VET mobility in the mechatronics and metallurgical sector in the five participating countries. At the same time, the project partners representing the clusters and industries have realized a survey and interviews to companies and “big players” in mechatronics and metallurgical. The results of all these activities have been worked out in a final report “Identification of skills and need in mechatronics and metallurgic industries". All activities concerning the WP4 Identification of skills and needs in the Mechatronics and Metallurgical sectors’ industries (M1-M6) have been completed. In the recent months, the project partners have been working hard on the activities concerning the WP5 Design of the training modules for students of VET schools and universities (M7-M12). They have to deal with the development of: a set of transnational training modules for students of VET schools and universities in mechatronics and metallurgy, the teaching materials, the platform to upload the selected modules, the guidelines for the planned piloting activities. The project partners responsible for the designing of the training modules are currently in the process of their implementation. The first step has been already completed. It regards the selection and development of the training modules. The next step will be to develop fully teaching materials. The MeMEVET consortium has set itsself the goal of concluding the tasks of the WP5 by March 2019. This goal is actionable as the project description foresees the task “Approval and adoption of newly developed courses” in the M15 in the Framework of the 3rd project meeting, planned in March 2019 in Madrid.
The main objective of the project was the creation of a Sector-Skill-Alliance between VET providers and entreprises in the mechatronics and metallurgical sectors in Germany, Spain, Italy, Bulgaria and Slovakia to develop a common VET Curriculum, which promotes an integration of the competences required in these two sectors at European level in order to facilitate mobility. The second objective was the development of an e-card to support the common VET Curriculum.
MeMeVET addressed relevant issues working out solutions that impede the free mobility of students and workers in the mechatronics and metallurgical sectors in Europe. MeMeVET is linked to previous European projects which brought to light the needs to ensure mobility, recognize skills across Europe, match education and companies‘ needs. MeMeVET was implemented by 15 project partners from Germany, Spain, Italy, Bulgaria and Slovakia from January 2018 to December 2019.

The second objective was the development of an e-card to support the common VET Curriculum. << Implementation >> A public consultation to assess the needs in the industries and an analysis on the status quo curricula were carried out. From the analysis of the needs and the identification of lack of competences in the existing curricula were developed the training modules at EQF level 4 and 6 according to the ECVET, EQF/NQFs principles. The testing involved students and companies. The definitive courses with teaching materials deployed into the educational platform. Mobility organized. E-Card developed. << Results >> Project Website; Facebook; Report on Assessment of skills and needs in mechatronics and metallurgical industries in Europe; Report on Status Quo Curricula; Courses and teaching materials for high schools and universities; Educational Platform; Organisation of Mobility opportunities; Delivery of guidelines for mobility; Networking; Creation of the MeMeVET E-Card; Legal documents to adopt and recognize the MeMeVET Curriculum; 30 Agreements signed with Stakeholders; Dialogue with authorities.
