Project summary

Disruptive innovations and digitalization are challenging Europe´s business and educational world. The concept of “Corporate Entrepreneurship” (CE), where established companies (corporates) team up with creative entrepreneurs, has huge potential to turn these challenges into opportunities. Corporates receive fresh ideas and startups – currently faced with high failure rates and competition for venture capital – receive new strong partners.Recently, a few EU corporates and start-ups have begun to embrace the concept. However, cooperation often fails due to misunderstandings on both sides. Moreover, universities – traditionally exhaustive sources of innovation – are not part of this movement yet, but an academic grounding connected to certification would benefit all sides. On top, universities urgently need new partners to find answers to digital educational trends (“Edupreneurship”) and changing needs (skills gap). Therefore, CORSHIP sets out to establish a joint language between corporates, startups and universities to successfully exploit the full potential of CE across sectors and industries. This is done by connecting them through 3 core results:- the first MicroCredential (a modular, flexible format stemming from MOOCs) Pilot world-wide on CE for 30 selected entrepreneurs, managers, students;- the first MOOC on CE (1.500+ entrepreneurs, managers, students);- and a unique CE Toolbox (guidelines, tools for 5.000+ users) to facilitate the collaboration between the 3 target groups.CORSHIP gathers 7 carefully selected partners from 6 countries representing universities, corporates, startups and innovation networks. 4 Associate partners add additional business and edupreneurship experience. On top, 20 letters of support from end-users underline huge demand. All 3 core results will be turned into permanent offers to trigger a long-term benefit for startups, universities and corporates across Europe to jointly become fit for the digital age.

Objectives

Therefore, the Corship Knowledge Alliance set out to connect different players of the innovation ecosystem (startups, established organizations and universities) through innovative training and facilitation schemes (a MOOC, a MicroCredential, a digital toolbox) to enable them to better exploit the promising approach of co-innovation, which is an emerging dimension of corporate entrepreneurship. This shall create a joint language and understanding for the benefits and pitfalls of co-innovation.

Background

In times of a more disruptive, complex, and dynamic world than ever experienced before, innovation is no longer a luxury, but a precondition for business survival. To tackle this innovation dilemma, forward-thinking established organizations are teaming up with fast, creative startups. However, the majority of European organizations and universities are not designed for corporate entrepreneurship and struggle to reap the benefits of co-innovation yet.

<< Background >> In times of a more disruptive, complex, and dynamic world than ever experienced before, innovation is no longer a luxury, but a precondition for business survival. To tackle this innovation dilemma, forward-thinking established organizations are teaming up with fast, creative startups. However, the majority of European organizations and universities are not designed for corporate entrepreneurship and struggle to reap the benefits of co-innovation yet. << Objectives >> Therefore, the Corship Knowledge Alliance set out to connect different players of the innovation ecosystem (startups, established organizations and universities) through innovative training and facilitation schemes (a MOOC, a MicroCredential, a digital toolbox) to enable them to better exploit the promising approach of co-innovation, which is an emerging dimension of corporate entrepreneurship. This shall create a joint language and understanding for the benefits and pitfalls of co-innovation. << Implementation >> To this end, Corship has designed and implemented the first MOOC on Co-Innovation, building on 33 interviews and the experience of the 7 partners, representing different innovation ecosystem stakeholders across Europe. This was followed up with a MicroCredential pilot, a digital deep-dive for selected MOOC participants. A digital toolbox with the Co-Innovation Builder in its center facilitated the learners. All outcomes were implemented as planned and stay available beyond project lifetime. << Results >> The project demonstrated significant impact and over-achieved its ambitious KPIs. The MOOC attracted more than +2.800 learners from the envisioned target groups with platform-all-time-high completion rates, interaction levels and course satisfaction. 43 learners received the opportunity for taking the MicroCredential and the toolbox draw +11.000 visitors. The learners created their own community and 11 collaboration agreements have been signed with organization for a sustainable uptake.
