One of the challenges that Europe is facing today is a big unemployment rates especially among young people. The situation regarding unemployment issue in EU is changing towards less unemployed people but in many counties that is still a great issue. If we check EUROSTAT data gathered till December 2017 we see that countries included in this project are among those hardest hit by this problem (data provided in full description). A great problem and great opportunity lies in ICT sector. This is a sector with constant growth and constant need for workers/services. On one hand we have a great number of unemployed YP Europe wide searching for a job and in the lack of same they are migrating to other developed countries. On other side we have growing ICT sector in all desperately seeking for skilled workforce. Unfortunately formal education system can’t “produce” enough ICT skilled workforces, so the logical assumption would be to try to find or retrain people who are unemployed. Next problem is that in many countries there is no systematic and free program’s that can offer ICT retraining for unemployed people. Because of that this project is focusing on young adults who are NEET’s with aim to transfer our participant’s concrete competences in graphic design and web development needed on the job market. Our project proposal is based on capitalizing on previous project. Namely this is a 3rd edition of “Design Your Job” initiative. Main upgrade regarding the last edition is development and implementation of intermediate level of web/graphic design education program together with used tools and methods. In addition each participant will have an obligation to conduct a 2 months practice cycle in real sector. After finishing whole education process we will analyze the results and the main question is “Can target group of this education program gain enough competences to start work in IT sector or start their own IT initiative?”Throughout project we will stream to achieve next results:- Build up capacities unemployed YP;- Create 3 new education programs for basic level web development and intermediary level of knowledge of web development and graphic design;- Update basic web development and graphic design education program created in previous version of this initiative;- Increase employability of at least 36 unemployed YP;- Further develop a pilot project ready for multiplying;- Create on line test / communication platform (website).Which will lead to achievement of these project objectives:1. Developing of and testing specific IT knowledge needed on labor market of at least 36 unemployed YP from Serbia, Italy Cyprus and Albania through training’s in web and graphic design by using NFL methods during 8 months of education process.2. Increasing the capacities of partner organizations through partner’s increased capacity for cooperation with different stakeholders, thus creating a pilot project suitable for multiplying across Europe.
One of the challenges that Europe is facing today is the big unemployment rates especially among young people (further YP). A great problem and great opportunity lies in ICT sector. This is a sector with constant growth and constant need for workers/services. On one hand, we have a great number of unemployed YP Europe wide searching for a job. On other side, we have growing ICT sector, all desperately seeking for skilled workforce. Unfortunately formal education system can’t “produce” enough ICT skilled workforces, so the logical assumption would be to try to find or retrain people who are unemployed. Next problem is that in many countries there is no systematic and free of charge program’s that can offer ICT retraining for unemployed people. Because of that, this project was focusing on young adults who are NEET’s with aim to transfer concrete competences in web and graphic design needed on the job market. To achieve desired outputs we divided participants in 2 topics group that had 16 participant in each group. Each topic group had a basic and medium level training in chosen topic (web or graphic design). After finishing trainings, all participants had an obligation to do 160 hours of practice in real sector. That understands practice in some ICT company or ICT work for any other company of organization.Based on our 10 years’ experience of working in youth unemployment field we can say that NGO sector have a quite weak results in providing programs with concrete competences needed on the job market. This is because majority of programs are focused on soft skills. These skills are also needed, but they are very far away from filling in the gap on job market. Employees are hiring persons who have concrete skills/knowledge for job, just after that they will focus on their soft skills. That is why we strongly believe that our approach is much more functional, thus provide concrete outputs and impact on participants and sector of ICT services. While partner NGO’s are fighting with this problem through designing different projects, partners from public/business sector fighting this problem on systematic level. Cooperation of these sectors will have a much greater systematic influence This project was also worked on a synergy between public sector represented by Public Employment Services (PES) and private ICT companies. We put this to be a pilot project from which we intend to develop together with PES and business sector this kind of programs as education & training program for NEET’s abroad Europe.
