This project is aiming to connect context-oriented and method-oriented concept of the non-formal education on active participation, democracy and EU citizenship. In this project, we will study different concepts of the youth work, one being content-oriented (emphasis to learn the content through different cognitive and experiential methods mostly) and the other method-oriented (emphasis to learn content through the same artistic expression method mostly). We will make study of both approaches, trying to find theories behind both youth work concepts, write summaries and some descriptions to be used by other youth workers. We plan to organise two youth exchanges, using both approaches separately to be tested in the impact study. We also plan to find fusion of both approaches and publish methodology that is based on both concepts in the manual. We will write a part of text about this fusion in the manual and describe methods and even make video tutorial, which will be presented as link in the manual to learn these methods. We will also make a seminar at the end of the project and invite international partners as well as some additional Slovenian youth workers to join and learn the fusion of two youth work concepts. There are five partners in this project, coming from Germany, Zambia, Croatia and two from Slovenia. Project will happen in Slovenia, Germany and Zambia and will produce new methodology and study behind it.
For the objectives, we set to study theses two recognised approaches, observe the methodology of the partners involved (Zambian theatre afterschool class, Theatre education youth work, Slovenian youth work, Croatian media education) and to find differences and similarities. We set also to create a learning opportunity for the young people to test both approaches and to disseminate our findings in the form of training course and the presentation.
In a longer period of working with young people, we have recognised at least two different approaches in youth work, one was based more on emphasizing topics while the other was focused more on the method. These two approaches often clashed, and it was obvious that these partners had problems working together and achieving good results. This discrepancy made us dig deep into the theory of learning, observing different working methodologies, and finding synergies where they are possible.

To do so, we have executed job shadowing activities to observe these approaches and learn from each other. We have also set to make a youth exchange where the approaches would be tested. We have created a publication with the theoretical and practical part and videos that complement the publication. We have executed a training course where all the studies were used in a practical way and made dissemination activities. << Results >> PUBLICATION – First part talks about the young people because we have seen how little youth workers know about the development of their target group. The second part talks about the learning process through many different perspectives. The third part focuses on the community building, explaining the approaches in youth work. The last part consists of the wisdoms, acquired in our carriers.VIDEOS – We have transferred these wisdoms into 13 short videos. Videos were made on the youth exchange.
