Project summary

The core of T-CREPE is the development of an innovative webbased platform to support cocreation based learning (a design based learning methodology), with a particular focus on entrepreneurship. In T-CREPE co-creation cases diverse student teams, together with stakeholders, develop solutions for real life problems from society or industry. Co-creation brings broad as well as in depth knowledge and skills ( entrepreneurial behaviour, multi-perspective thinking and building partnerships). Co-creation cases often have market potential.T-CREPE addresses two problems that limit these impacts to be achieved namely the huge effort needed for adequate coaching and the commercial under-exploitation.A webbased platform will support lecturers in implementing co-creation based learning activities into their courses, saving coaching time, improving the effectiveness, efficiency and commercial exploitation. Although developed for textile engineering (a very multidisciplinary field), the T-CREPE platform will be easily transferrable to other engineering fields and mainstream education.T-CREPE tasks consist of developing the online support tool and its content using a gamified approach and IT tools for textile design. They will be evaluated during co-creation cases elaborated in collaboration with industry and other stakeholders.T-CREPE builds on tools and contents available from previous projects. Additional content (games) will be created by the partners but also by lecturers and students as part of regular teaching duties. The consortium consists of a geographically balanced team of 4 academic partners with a background in co-creation in education, education, business and textile engineering and (virtual) design. Industry is represented by 2 industry clusters and 2 SME’s specialised in ICT in textiles. Industry representatives will participate in all activities, in order to ensure their needs and expectations are addressed as well.

Objectives

Meaningful and informative co-creation between industry (textile and product design) and academia (instructors, students, researchers) in the context of textiles, education, and (product/industrial) design in HE institutions to bridge the gap and strengthen the link between education and marketplace with realistic, feasible, innovative products or/and services. Teaching and disseminating in a structured and playful way the Design Thinking methodology. Reducing coaching time. Transferability.

Background

The T-Crepe alliance gave the opportunity for industry and academia to come closer, overcome silos and blind spots and collaborate in finding solutions together. They formed an alliance in fostering contemporary teaching/learning in HE that is based on real-life (textile, industry and education, social) projects in a playful and collaborative way. These projects have been benchmarked from other fields that have been studied and incorporated in the project.

Transferability. << Implementation >> The unique e-learning platform was developed in the first year and implemented in the following 2.5 years in a total of 15 courses on a bachelor and master's-level HE institutions in Europe, Asia and Africa reaching out to 555 students, 44 academics, who co-created 104 Serious Games, and hundreds of people attending our 4 training open workshops. The background of these courses stretched from product design and textile engineering to educational sciences capitalising the partners' expertise. << Results >> The T-Crepe planet platform: an open source platform for academics, students and professionals until at least 2028. Engagement of 555 students (in bachelor's and master's level) in playing, modifying and designing Serious Games. Creation of 104 ChoiCo Serious Games. Four (4) open 4- or 5-day workshops. 18 Research and Publications. A Best practices book.Exposure and visibility on social media. Newsletters. Internships. PhD Research.
